- Fire ladder must meet: Width is at least 0.7m; the largest angle of inclination relative to the horizontal is not greater than 500, the ladder must have a handrail of 0.8m high.
- Number of stairs: Greater than 3 and less than 18 steps, do not use a spiral staircase with fan-shaped stairs to make an escape ladder, the largest angle of inclination of the ladder is 1:1.75.

The standard for emergency exit ladders in high-rise buildings is that the exit stairs must be on one side, the other side is a balcony design with an external escape ladder with an area of ​​​​less than 300m2 on each floor. The requirements for the design of the emergency ladder are:

- Go from the rooms on the first floor directly out or through the lobby to the outside;

- The bearing structure and cover must have fire resistance limit of not less than 60 minutes. Because when there is a problem, a large number of people move by emergency stairs is quite large, so there must be a structure that can withstand a rather large load.

- Fire doors must automatically close and be made of non-combustible materials with fire resistance levels greater than 45 minutes. Since this door has the role of optimal fire blocking when traveling on the emergency ladder, the fireproof material has a very important position and must definitely be selected according to the design of the exit stairs.

- There must be a projection system at the stairs when there is an incident

- Ladders must be ventilated so that the ground should not reach the floors and have an emergency exit to the roof.

- Analysis of pre-construction design drawings.

- The design of the escape ladder must ensure the space structure, the load-bearing structure and pay attention to ensure compliance with the prescribed standards.
